In network means that your therapist is contracted with the company and you would be responsible for only the amount contracted. You may just have a co-pay or you may need to meet a deductible first. You are responsible for checking your mental health benefits prior to the first sessions for specifics.
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO
- Magellan Behavioral Health
- APS Healthcare
- BDA Morneau Shepal EAP
- American Behavioral
- Out of Network (You pay out of pocket and I will bill your insurance company for you.)
- Private Pay (Cash, Check, Credit and Debit Cards are accepted)
Out of network
If you have another insurance plan, check with your network. You may be able to use our services as an out of network provider. You would then pay for your session up front. In many instances, we can submit the claim for you so you get your allowed reimbursement. In other cases, I would provide you with the paperwork you submit to your insurance company.
Flex Spending/Health Savings Accounts
Generally, medical flex spending accounts can be used for mental health therapy. I can provide you a receipt for reimbursement or process your flex spending credit card.
Mental health expenses can be counted toward your deductible for most health
insurance plans. I will submit billing to your insurance company to make sure your payments are counted towards your deductible.
Insurance vs. Private Pay
I accept insurance because I believe therapy should be accessible. People often use their insurance company for therapy because it covers most of the fee and often makes counseling more affordable.
Sometimes people opt to pay out of pocket for therapy. A person may choose not to use their insurance so the therapist does not have to release any information to the insurance company. With the exception of few EAP plans, all insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis in order to cover
services and sometimes want updates on problems and
progress. Paying out of pocket allows for complete privacy.
Therapy is scheduled in advanced. The client is paying to reserve a block of our time. A missed appointment or cancellation with less than 24 hours is time on of us is available for you but unproductive due to the lack of adequate notice.
Appointments must be cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. Appointments not cancelled more than 24 hours in advance will be charged the entire fee for the session. Insurance does not cover missed appointments.
