Kavita Adatia MsEd, LPC, PEL
One of the hardest yet bravest things one can do when life is chaotic, doubtful, and uncertain is to reach out for help. Whether you are struggling in relationships, experiencing a life changing event, or are unable to find satisfaction with the quality of life, my goal is to help you find the path to the best version of yourself. As your clinician, I provide a safe space to learn and practice healthy coping skills, process life’s challenges, and teach how to apply your identified strengths and resources to meet your goals.
I earned my Master’s degree in school counseling from Northern Illinois University, and am currently a licensed professional counselor. I also hold my school counseling license and worked in a variety of settings including various departments at Northern Illinois University, the Illinois Math and Science Academy as a live-in resident counselor and was recently a school-based therapist in district U-46 providing intensive community-based support services for families in Elgin and surrounding communities. I have extensive experience working with young adolescents and young adults with diverse presenting issues including adjustment issues, life transitions, anxiety, anger, self-esteem, relationships, stress management, student related counseling and more.
My practice draws from building a person-centered relationship with clients while also utilizing strength-based interventions, psycho-education, mindfulness, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT). Regardless of my approach, I strive to create a strong client-counselor collaboration centered on your needs and goals. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist.
